Day 1: ARRIVAL TIRANA
Upon arrival at Tirana Airport, transfer to your hotel, and the rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 2: TIRANA – BERAT (120km – 2.5hrs)
The capital of Albania presents itself as a vibrant metropolis where history and modernity meet. During an extensive city tour, the main sights are explored: the spacious Skanderbeg Square with its representative buildings from the Italian royal period, the clock tower, the Et’hem Bey Mosque, and the former residence of dictator Enver Hoxha.
Afterwards, continue to Berat, the “City of a Thousand Windows.” Nestled between mountains and the Osum River, Berat is one of the finest examples of Ottoman architecture in the Balkans. The old town, with its characteristic white houses rising in terraces up the hillside, and the impressive fortress, still inhabited today, create the unique charm of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Narrow streets, Orthodox churches, and minarets reflect the harmonious coexistence of different cultures and religions. Continue across the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina to Sarajevo.

Day 3: BERAT – VLORA – GJIROKASTRA (210km – 4 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Vlora, the city of independence. This port city holds special significance for Albania. Continue to Gjirokastra, a town that impresses with its unique architecture and atmosphere. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is considered one of the best examples of Ottoman architecture in the Balkans and is known as the “City of Stone.” Towering above the slate-roofed houses is a massive fortress offering wide views over the Drina Valley. From there, enjoy a short walk through the narrow streets and pass by the house of the parents of former dictator Enver Hoxha.

Day 4: GJIROKASTRA – BUTRINT – GJIROKASTRA (120km – 3hrs)
The day begins with a visit to Butrint, one of the country’s most important archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set in a picturesque lagoon landscape, it reveals over 2,500 years of history. The remains of ancient temples, Roman baths, an amphitheater, and Byzantine basilicas testify to the former grandeur of this city, shaped over centuries by Greeks, Romans, and Venetians. On the return to Gjirokastra, there is a short stop in the idyllic coastal village of Ksamil, known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and views of nearby islands.

Day 5: GJIROKASTRA – KORÇA (230km – 5hrs)
The route continues through the impressive mountain landscapes of southern Albania. The journey offers stunning views of valleys, rivers, and remote villages harmoniously integrated into the scenery. Arrival in Korça in the afternoon, a charming city in the southeast of the country, known for its cultural diversity, old bazaars, and traditional architecture.

Day 6: KORÇA – SVETI NAUM – OHRID ( 140 km – 3.5 hrs)
The day begins with a sightseeing tour of Korça, considered the cultural center of southeastern Albania. Among elegant Renaissance-era villas, old churches, and lively bazaar streets, one can feel the unique spirit of this historic trading town. The route then continues north through the picturesque border region between Albania and North Macedonia to the legendary Lake Ohrid, the oldest and deepest lake in Europe. The region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and impresses with its harmonious blend of nature, history, and culture. Before reaching the town of Ohrid, a visit to the Monastery of Saint Naum is scheduled. Set in an idyllic natural environment, it is one of the most important monastery complexes in North Macedonia. Just below the monastery are the clear springs that feed Lake Ohrid. Optionally, a rowing boat trip through the spring area offers impressive views of the interplay of water, light, and nature. Then continue to the hotel in Ohrid.

Day 7: OHRID – DURRES (280km – 5.5hrs)
The morning is dedicated to exploring Ohrid, one of the oldest cities in the Balkans and part of the UNESCO World Heritage. First, discover the city from the water during a short boat ride with a stop at the famous photo spot, the Church of Kaneo. A walk through the old town reveals magnificent churches, Byzantine frescoes, and narrow cobbled streets overlooking the deep blue lake. The city is considered the cultural heart of North Macedonia and was once one of the most important religious centers of Orthodox Christianity. At midday, return to Albania. The route follows the historic Roman road Via Egnatia, which once connected the Adriatic and Aegean regions. Continue to Durres and overnight stay.

Day 8: DURRES – SHKODRA – DURRES (210km – 4hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Shkodra, one of the oldest cities in Albania and an important cultural centre. The city lies picturesquely between the Buna and Drin rivers, overlooking Lake Skadar. A visit to Rozafa Castle, majestically perched on a hill, offers an impressive panorama over the plains and surrounding waters. The legend of the woman walled into its structure gives the fortress a mysterious atmosphere. On the return journey, stop at Herta Winery to taste the country’s excellent wines accompanied by regional snacks. The winery belongs to the Osmani family. Initially cultivating 6 hectares of vineyards, it has now expanded to 10 hectares, growing various grape varieties.

Day 9: DEPARTURE TIRANA
Enjoy your last breakfast at the hotel and at the agreed time transfer to Tirana Airport for your return flight.
Pack comfortable walking shoes, as the tour includes city sightseeing and walks in national parks. Bring light, breathable clothing for warm days and a light jacket for cooler evenings or boat trips. Sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen is essential. A small day backpack, refillable water bottle, and camera are recommended, along with swimwear for coastal stops. Don’t forget personal medication, travel documents, and some cash for personal expenses.
